A Few Things to Make Life Online Easier

Hints and TipsHere are some of the things we get asked about all the time. We hope our answers are helpful.

Q: Why can’t I create a single line space in WordPress?
A: When you press Return, it creates a double line space. If you want a single line space, then press Shift+Return.

Q: My Facebook posts are showing the wrong tags or an old preview. How can I change or update it so that it shows correctly?
A: Use the Facebook debug tool https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
You’ll need to log in and then input the URL of the page you’re trying to get to show correctly. Then click Debug. After that, go to your FB page and input the URL/link and it should now show correctly.

Q: How can I re-size my logo to fit into the Twitter and Facebook profile boxes?
A: The size for the Twitter profile pic is 400 x 400 pixels. If you can’t fit all of your logo in, why not use a portion of it or ask a graphic designer to create a Twitter profile graphic? Here are some examples that look great and work well.

Don’t just upload your logo and hope for the best. It might get cut off so not all of it shows. How it looks once uploaded will depend on the shape and size of your original logo. Try using an image editor such as www.picmonkey.com to crop or re-size or even design. Q: I thought my website was updated, why can’t I see the changes?
A: You probably need to refresh your browser as it will cache the last page you were on. You can either click the refresh button which is normally located at the top of your browser.
In FF and Safari

Or you can press the F5 key on Windows and the Command+R on Mac.
If that doesn’t work, then you’ll need to clear your cache by deleting your temporary Internet files.
On FF:
On the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Preferences.
Select the Advanced panel.
Click on the Network tab.
In the Cached Web Content section, click Clear Now.

In Chrome:
Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
Select Tools.
Select Clear browsing data.
In the dialogue that appears, select the tickboxes for the types of information that you want to remove.
Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Select beginning of time to delete everything.
Click Clear browsing data.

In Safari:
Click on Safari in your Safari menu, located at the top of your screen.
A drop-down menu will now appear. Choose the option labeled Reset Safari….
A warning dialog will now appear detailing the items that will be removed. By default, all items within this window are checked.
Ensure that only the items that you wish to reset are checked.
Click the button on the dialog Reset

Q: I thought I already renewed my hosting? Why am I getting an invoice for it?
A: You probably renewed your domain name and thought you were renewing your hosting as well. Domain name renewal is separate (or in addition to) your domain name. Step 1. Register a domain name Step 2. Buy hosting. You may have your domain name and hosting with the same company OR you might have them with separate companies. If you host through us with Ihelm-Enterprises Ltd. then your domain name will be registered separately, probably with 123reg or UK.Net or Namesco for example You need to ensure both your domain name AND your hosting are current and if they need to be renewed, then please do this immediately. For hosting renewals with Ihelm-Enterprises Ltd please contact support@shakeitupcreative.com.

Q: How do I create an email signature with my logo and social media icons with links in Mac Mail?
A: See our previous blog post dedicated to answering this.

Hopefully, we’ve helped make life online easier!
